Kate and Jonathan shared the news of the Xavier Jesuit School, the school they serve in Cambodia.
Primary School – On Monday, 4th January, hundreds of students walked through the gates of Xavier Jesuit School as the first day of the new school year began. School premises that had been quiet for months were buzzing as students made their way to their new classes, met their teachers and reconnected with friends. Clearly, it can be seen how excited and happy the students were as they run around the school field.
For this school year, XJS-Primary School would continue to comply to the standard operating procedures (SOP) set by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports (MoEYS). Each class is divided into two sessions, AM and PM, to limit the number of students up to 18. Morning session is set from 7 to 11 AM while the afternoon session is from 1 to 5 PM. Despite the reduced class hours, the school still aims to provide all subjects such as Khmer, Math, History, Science, English, Sports, Arts, and Music among the students.
“Lyda, she’s Grade 5, she told me that she misses me so much. We, teachers, really miss our students a lot too. We really want to hug them tight but this time, we can only share smiles through our masks.” Primary School Principal Ms. Katherine Cheung shared.
On the other hand, classes for XJS Secondary School will officially start on Wednesday, 6th January, 2021.
